Constellation Network, in partnership with Panasonic and IBM, has announced the launch of its Global Metagraph Hackathon, inviting Web3 and Web2 developers to innovate on its advanced Hypergraph distributed ledger technology. This technology, developed under various contracts with the US Department of Defense, is now open for public participation.
The virtual Hackathon, running from July 15th to September 9th, 2024, offers a total of $100,000 in $DAG (Constellation Network’s cryptocurrency) to winners across several categories. The top prize of $25,000 will go to the most successful Metagraph.
A New Era for Blockchain Development
Constellation’s Hackathon marks the debut of its “metagraph” technology, which operates on the Hypergraph global consensus layer. A metagraph can serve as any Layer 1 decentralized application (dApp) network or even a legacy Web2 network with its own business logic, enhancing interoperability and collaboration across diverse blockchain ecosystems.
“Constellation’s Hypergraph is the blockchain of blockchains,” said Ben Jorgensen, CEO of Constellation Network. “The future of Web3 lies in interoperability and collaboration across various chains and communities. Hypergraph connects these networks, securing and validating their data flows.”
Strategic Partnerships and Technology Integration
Key partners include SIMBA Chain, the C14 cryptocurrency on-ramping service, Stardust Collective, and the National DigiFoundry, supported by experts from the US National Science Foundation, US Space Force, and US Department of the Treasury. These collaborations aim to foster the development of innovative metagraph technologies.
Constellation’s Hypergraph network, designed using DAG-based infrastructure and microservices, offers fast, feeless transactions, network security, data validation, scalability, and simplified onboarding for businesses and governments. This architecture facilitates seamless interoperability across Web3 and legacy Web2 networks.
Expanding Possibilities in Web3
“Interoperability is essential in the Web3 space, enabling different networks, like those in smart cities or factories, to communicate and share data,” explained Jorgensen. “Metagraphs, communicating across Hypergraph, provide a flexible and secure foundation for these applications.”
Constellation’s metagraphs support any data type, interface with external data sources, and scale to meet application demands through a multilayered microservice architecture. This capability is backed by rigorous standards set by the US Department of Defense and collaboration with industry leaders like Panasonic and IBM.
Invitation to Innovate
“I’ve been waiting for this year since we started the company,” said Jorgensen. “Our vision has always been to provide developer-friendly blockchain tools. This hackathon is just the beginning of the limitless potential of metagraphs.”
Judging and Evaluation
Submissions for the Hackathon will be judged from September 16-23, 2024, with winners announced around September 30th. Judges include industry leaders and experts such as Alan Boeme, David Beck, Kevin Jackson, Dr. Dragan Boscovic, and Constellation Network’s co-founders.
