Trump to Meet Indian Prime Minister Modi
Former US president Donald Trump announced at a campaign event in Michigan that he will be meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi next week. Despite calling India a “very big abuser” on trade, Trump praised Modi as “fantastic.”
Biden Hosts ‘Quad Leaders’ Summit
US President Joe Biden is set to host a summit of “Quad Leaders” in Delaware on September 21, with Modi, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio in attendance. Modi is also scheduled to participate in official events in New York, as reported by the Indian media.
It is worth noting that in recent months, several world leaders visiting the US for meetings with Biden and other summits have also had meetings with Trump. As the Republican candidate, Trump will face Vice President Kamala Harris in the upcoming November presidential election.
Trump-Modi Relations
Trump and Modi had a close relationship during Trump’s presidency. Their camaraderie was evident during Modi’s 2019 visit to the US, where they praised each other at a massive event called “Howdy, Modi!” in Texas, attended by over 50,000 people. In return, Modi hosted a grand rally for Trump during his visit to India in 2020, where attendees sported “Namaste Trump” hats.
