OpenAI has appointed Leah Belsky, a former executive at Coursera Inc., as its first General Manager of Education. Her role will be to spearhead OpenAI’s initiative to introduce artificial intelligence (AI) tools into a wider range of educational environments, including K-12 schools, universities, and continuing education programs.

Belsky, who previously served as Coursera’s Chief Revenue Officer, will focus on enhancing OpenAI’s collaboration with educators and students. OpenAI’s popular AI chatbot, ChatGPT, made a significant impact on students and educators when it launched in late 2022. To further these efforts, OpenAI plans to host a summit in October for presidents and provosts from top universities. This meeting will focus on strategies for effectively and responsibly incorporating AI into academic settings, both for teaching and research purposes.
