Singapore Red Cross Sends $50,000 to Myanmar for Disaster Relief
The Singapore Red Cross (SRC) has announced that they will be sending $50,000 to Myanmar to support disaster relief efforts following Typhoon Yagi and severe flooding. Relief Efforts in Myanmar
- The $50,000 donation will fund the distribution of food, clean water, hygiene kits, and other essential supplies to the hardest-hit communities in Myanmar.
- Water filters will also be sent in the coming weeks to address the urgent need for safe drinking water.
Response in Laos
- SRC’s three-member response team has been on the ground in Laos since September 16, providing relief operations and assistance based on the needs of the victims.
- The team has distributed household kits in Thong Kua and demonstrated the use of water filters in Tavanh village to support access to clean drinking water.
Continued Support
- The team will remain in Laos until September 24, and additional support will be deployed if needed.
- Fifty water filters have been delivered to Laos through Singapore Armed Forces’s Changi Regional Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief Coordination Centre.
Future Plans in Vietnam
- Another three-person team will be deployed to Vietnam in October to support early recovery efforts.
