Reevaluation of Employee Dismissals
In the aftermath of recent events, Djøf has taken a proactive approach to address the terminations of employees from a different perspective. They have reached out to the party to renegotiate the terms of dismissal based on the premise that the terminations were unjustified.
Expectations for Resolution
It is anticipated that the other party will acknowledge this standpoint. If so, it will lead to discussions regarding the type of compensation that the employees will receive in return.
In the event that negotiations do not yield a satisfactory outcome, the matter may escalate to legal proceedings, potentially requiring court intervention, as explained by Therkildsen.
Løkke Acknowledges Culture of Bullying
In recent weeks, Djøf has been in contact with the affected employees at Moderaterne. This follows reports that several employees within the secretariat had approached the Labor Inspectorate for assistance with what they perceived to be issues related to the working environment within the party.
Their complaint to the Labor Inspectorate highlighted allegations of sexism, bullying, and authoritarian leadership.
Subsequently, the Labor Inspectorate compiled a report, obtained by DR, which at least confirms accounts of offensive behavior by leaders and employees, though not specifically sexism.
Party leader Lars Løkke Rasmussen also admitted, following the dismissals, that there have been “issues with a culture of bullying” within the party’s secretariat at Christiansborg.
Blaming the Messenger
Overall, Tomas Therkildsen views this situation as a “quite dreadful affair” for the employees.
He highlights how the employees raised concerns about the working environment, sought intervention from the Labor Inspectorate, endured intense pressure for several weeks, including significant media scrutiny, and now face termination.
Furthermore, he criticizes the act of shifting blame onto the terminated employees.
Instead of addressing the reported issues within the working environment, the focus seems to be on silencing the messengers rather than solving the underlying problems.
