SINGAPORE – The second edition of the Sustainability Impact Awards, organized by The Business Times and UOB, celebrated the outstanding achievements of individuals and companies dedicated to making a positive impact on the environment and society. Among the winners were City Developments Limited (CDL), BlueAcres, and Esther An, who stood out in their respective categories.
CDL: Leading the Way in Climate Action
- CDL was awarded Impact Enterprise of the Year in the large enterprise category for its commitment to climate action.
- The property developer, in partnership with the Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore, established a sustainability academy that has hosted over 1,000 advocacy events and reached out to 34,500 visitors.
BlueAcres: Blending Environmental and Social Impact
- BlueAcres received the Impact Enterprise of the Year award in the SME category for its innovative approach to blending environmental and social impact.
- The company has empowered individuals with moderate autism by providing them with farming skills, addressing Singapore’s labor shortage on farms while promoting inclusivity.
Esther An: A Pioneer in Sustainability
- Esther An, CDL’s chief sustainability officer, was recognized as the Impact Leader of the Year for her significant contributions to the field.
- As the chair of the Sustainability Reporting Advisory, An has played a crucial role in shaping national regulations for climate-related disclosures in Singapore.
Driving Innovations Towards a Greener Future
The Sustainability Impact Awards aim to inspire individuals and corporates to work towards a greener and more inclusive future. With the support of the Centre for Governance and Sustainability at the National University of Singapore Business School, the Awards recognize the importance of sustainability in creating a positive impact on people and the environment.

Large Enterprises:
- Keppel, Sentosa Development Corp, and UOL Group received the Impact Enterprise Excellence Award for their efforts in sustainable urban renewal, carbon neutrality, and achieving global sustainability certifications, respectively.
SMEs:
- Edible Garden City, Ground-Up Initiative, and Seven Clean Seas were recognized for their innovative approaches to urban farming, community outreach, and plastic footprint reduction.
Individual Excellence:
- Mr. Cheng Hsing Yao of GuocoLand and Mr. Jeffrey Sim of SBS Transit were honored for their leadership in prioritizing energy efficiency, community engagement, and incorporating ESG considerations into operations.
