Addressing Teacher Burnout in Luxembourg: SNE’s Campaign

The National Teachers’ Union (SNE/CGFP) in Luxembourg has taken a proactive approach to tackle the issue of teacher burnout in the country. The union recently launched a campaign that aims to raise awareness and prompt action to address the growing concerns surrounding the mental health and well-being of teachers.

The State of School Staff: Critical

SNE President Patrick Remakel has highlighted the critical state of school staff in Luxembourg, emphasizing the urgent need for swift solutions to alleviate the pressures faced by teachers. The union’s campaign, aptly titled “Stop,” is designed to draw attention to the challenges experienced by educators on a daily basis.

Weekly Distribution of Urgent Messages

As part of the campaign, adhesive labels with urgent messages will be distributed to schools across Luxembourg on a weekly basis for the next four weeks. These messages, such as “Stop, inclusion has its limits,” “Stop, our health is at stake,” and “Stop with the administrative bottleneck,” aim to convey the pressing issues faced by teachers in the education system.

Call for Action

Following a meeting with Minister of Education Claude Meisch, where the union presented their demands, the SNE is now awaiting a response from the Ministry. Remakel stressed the need for significant changes and reforms to benefit both teachers and students, urging the Ministry to take prompt action to address the concerns raised by the union.

The next steps of the campaign will be determined based on the Minister’s response, indicating the union’s commitment to advocating for the well-being of teachers and the improvement of working conditions in schools.
