Immigration crackdown in Sandakan: More than 100 foreigners detained
Recently, a two-day operation conducted by immigration personnel in the east coast district of Sandakan resulted in the detention of over 100 foreigners for various immigration violations. This crackdown also led to the arrest of three locals on suspicion of employing foreigners without valid travel passes.

- 219 individuals were screened during the exercise
- 121 foreigners were detained for breaching immigration laws
- Three locals were arrested under Section 55(B) of the Immigration Act 1959/63
- The detainees, ranging from 12 months to 65 years old, included 46 men, 36 women, and 32 children
Immigration deputy director-general (operations) Jafri Embok Taha confirmed these details and mentioned that the detainees will be placed at the Sandakan immigration depot for further processing.
