Muslims in Selangor Urged to Distance Themselves from Global Ikhwan Service and Business Holdings
SHAH ALAM: In a recent Friday sermon led by Imam Mohd Luqman Hakkim Rizuan, Muslims in Selangor were advised to steer clear of the teachings and practices of Global Ikhwan Service and Business Holdings (GISB) due to their departure from authentic Islamic beliefs.
Deviation from True Islamic Faith
The sermon titled “Purify the Aqeedah of GISB Followers” highlighted four main deviations within GISB:
- Belief in the resurrection of the deceased leader of al-Arqam
- Excessive reverence for Ashaari Muhammad
- Elements of superstition and “shirik” in Al-Arqam’s teachings
- Non-conforming polygamy practices
One of the key concerns addressed in the sermon was the belief among some followers that the deceased leader of al-Arqam, Sheikh Muhammad al-Suhaimi, will return as Imam Mahdi. Additionally, there were claims of extraordinary spiritual powers attributed to Ashaari Muhammad by the followers.
Importance of Following Correct Teachings
Muslims were advised to adhere to teachings based on the beliefs of Ahli Sunnah Wal-Jamaah and to remain cautious against groups like GISB to prevent confusion and deviation from the true path of Islam.
The sermon emphasized the need for verification and research before blindly following religious teachings, urging Muslims to consult state religious authorities for guidance.
Endorsement by Selangor Ruler
Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah of Selangor endorsed a fatwa from the state Fatwa Committee declaring the leaders, followers, and workers of GISB as deviating from true Islamic faith. This decision was made in response to the continued practice of Aurad Muhammadiah associated with the Darul Arqam group, which had been previously declared deviant.
State religion and innovation committee chairman Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah mentioned that the fatwa must be gazetted before it can be enacted as law and enforced in the state.
It is essential for Muslims to stay informed and vigilant against teachings and practices that deviate from the core principles of Islam to uphold the true faith.
