Empowering Artists with Disabilities: Neo Kah Kiat Arts Award
SINGAPORE – Meet Madam Moy Saw Han, a former lawyer who found a new passion in painting after being diagnosed with glaucoma in 2018, which resulted in total blindness in her right eye and reduced vision in her left. Despite her challenges, Madam Moy’s artwork, including a stunning landscape painting titled Autumn Beauty, is now in the running for the prestigious Neo Kah Kiat Arts Award.
New Awards for Artists with Disabilities
The Neo Kah Kiat Arts Award was recently introduced at the inclusive art festival, Shaping Hearts, on Oct 19. This initiative, funded by caterer Neo Group with a $1 million commitment over five years, aims to recognize and support artists with disabilities. Half of the donation will be allocated to the awards, while the remaining funds will go towards organizing the annual event.
Celebrating Diverse Artistic Talents

This year’s festival, the sixth edition, will showcase over 500 artworks by more than 200 local and international artists with disabilities, including Madam Moy’s captivating pieces. The artworks will be on display at Our Tampines Hub from Oct 19 to Nov 3, giving the public a chance to appreciate and purchase these unique creations.
