Expanding Public Housing in Whitlam

  • These townhouses are part of the Housing ACT Growing and Renewing Public Housing Program, which aims to address the growing demand for affordable housing in the region.
  • The development will feature a mix of 2, 3, and 4-bedroom homes, catering to a diverse range of household compositions.

The Housing ACT Growing and Renewing Public Housing Program has been instrumental in bolstering the public housing stock in the region, with the Whitlam development standing out as one of its largest undertakings.

The inclusion of 2, 3, and 4-bedroom homes in the development underscores a commitment to providing housing solutions that cater to families, individuals, and various household types.

Projex Building Group, a Supply Nation accredited builder, has been tasked with the construction of the townhouses, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship and adherence to accessibility standards.

All townhouses will be Class C adaptable, designed to accommodate individuals with disabilities and support aging in place.

The flexibility of these homes allows for easy modifications over time, ensuring that tenants’ changing needs are met effectively.

By increasing the availability of public housing, the Whitlam development is poised to make a significant impact on reducing waitlists and providing much-needed housing support to vulnerable populations.

As of June 30, 2024, a total of 614 homes have been constructed and 176 homes purchased under the Growing and Renewing Public Housing Program, with an additional 482 homes in various stages of development.
