The Peacekeeping Mission in Lebanon Comes Under Attack

The peacekeeping forces in Lebanon were targeted while removing objects from the road.

The peacekeeping forces in Lebanon, known as Unifil, reported on Telegram.

On Thursday morning, a patrol noticed an ammunition storage near the road. After informing the Lebanese forces of the discovery, they continued on their planned route.

A short while later, they exited their vehicles to remove objects from the road. Upon re-entering their vehicles, two or three unknown individuals fired around 30 shots in their direction.

The peacekeepers returned fire from their vehicles and moved to safety. No injuries were reported, and there was no damage to the vehicles. It remains unclear if the discovery of the weapons cache and the attack are directly linked. An investigation has been launched, as stated on Telegram.
