First Presidential Debate for the Romanian Elections

The first electoral debate for the presidential elections is set to take place today, November 18, starting at 8:00 PM. The event is organized by Digi24 and is scheduled to last for three hours.

Confirmed Candidates for the Debate

According to Pagina de Media, the following candidates have confirmed their presence at the debate: Mircea Geoană, Elena Lasconi, Kelemen Hunor, George Simion, Ludovic Orban, and Cristian Diaconescu.

It is uncertain whether Marcel Ciolacu and Nicolae Ciucă will attend. Both had external commitments on Monday. The Prime Minister had scheduled meetings in Brussels with NATO Secretary-General, Mark Rutte, the President of the European Parliament, and the President of the European Council. On the other hand, Nicolae Ciucă was received in Vienna by the Austrian Chancellor, Karl Nehammer.

Event Details

The debate itself will take place between 8:00 PM and 11:00 PM, but special live streams will begin at 6:00 PM as the candidates arrive with their teams of supporters, each consisting of ten people.

The moderators will be Cosmin Prelipceanu and Liliana Ruse, with another podium reserved for the rector of UBB, Daniel David, who will ask questions to each candidate and provide a post-debate analysis of each presidential candidate’s performance.
