UNRWA Halts Gaza Aid at Vital Crossing – DW News

An Israeli aircraft conducted a strike on a vehicle in the West Bank, resulting in the death of several young men, as reported by the Palestinian WAFA news agency.

The Israeli military stated that the strike targeted terrorists in the Jenin area, which is recognized as a stronghold for Palestinian militants.

Following the recent conflict in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank has witnessed a surge in Israeli military operations, with over 760 Palestinians reported killed by the Ministry of Health in Ramallah.

Recent Israeli military strikes in Gaza resulted in the deaths of at least 15 Palestinians, according to medics in the region.

Among the casualties were individuals in a house in the central Gaza camp in Nuseirat, as well as victims in other locations like Gaza City, Khan Younis, and Rafah.

The ongoing conflict has led to a staggering death toll, with the Health Ministry in Gaza reporting over 44,000 fatalities and 105,250 injuries, emphasizing the devastating impact of the prolonged war.

The UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, announced a temporary suspension of aid deliveries via the Kerem Shalom crossing due to recent incidents of looting by armed groups.

Philippe Lazzarini, head of UNRWA, cited safety concerns on the Gaza side of the crossing following multiple instances of theft from aid convoys.

Israel has been blamed for hindering the aid distribution process, leading to shortages in Gaza, although Israeli authorities argue that sufficient aid is being allowed into the region.

Accusations of Hamas infiltration within UNRWA have also surfaced, prompting legislative actions to cut ties with the agency, which UNRWA has refuted.
