ACT Youth Week 2025: Celebrating Young Voices in Canberra

ACT Youth Week offers young people the opportunity to express their ideas and opinions on issues that impact them directly. It is a time of celebration, fun, and a chance to shine a light on the positive contributions that young individuals make to the ACT community.

College to Uni

  • A one-day event offering workshops, peer mentorship, and group activities to assist young people from Pasifika, migrant, and refugee backgrounds in understanding their higher education options.

12 Hour Theatre Project

  • Young artists aged 13-17 years will imagine, create, rehearse, and perform original short theatre works within a 12-hour timeframe. No experience needed.
  • Organised by: The Canberra Youth Theatre
  • Time: Final show at 7:00pm or 8:00pm
  • Location: Gorman Arts Centre, 55 Ainslie Avenue, Braddon

Sunset Festival 2025

  • A vibrant festival featuring live music, games, activities, street art, displays, and a variety of food and drinks at Eddison Park. This free event is also smoke, drug, and alcohol-free.

Melanesian Film Fest Day 2025

  • Celebrate Melanesian identity, creativity, and community with a selection of youth-led films and discussions.

African Youth Drum and Dance Workshop

  • This workshop is for young people from diverse backgrounds to share their traditions through drumming and dancing, promoting inclusivity and unity.
  • Organised by: Celebration of African Australians Inc
  • Time: 10:30am – 12:00pm
  • Location: Tuggeranong Community Centre, ACT 2900

Kooky Olympics

  • Enjoy a playful community sports event with a twist. Join in light-hearted games, connect with others, and celebrate diversity in a welcoming environment.

Your Moments Captured

  • Join the Belconnen Youth Centre for six days of free activities to celebrate Youth Week. Sketch boards, cameras, and paper are provided to capture special moments with friends, new environments, spaces, portraits, and more. The event will culminate in an exhibition at the Gallery.
