Citigroup reported revenues in line with expectations in the first quarter of 2025, with earnings per share exceeding expectations. The revenues amounted to $21.6 billion, compared to Factset’s analyst consensus of $21.2 billion. Net interest income increased by 4% year-over-year to $14 billion.

Earnings per share reached $1.96, which is 5.9% better than the analyst consensus of $1.85. “With a net profit of $4.1 billion, we delivered a strong quarter, characterized by continued momentum, positive operational leverage, and improved returns in all five of our businesses,” said CEO Jane Fraser.

According to the presentation material for the report, Citi is reiterating its forecasts for 2025. However, they are adjusted by around $400 million to reflect the effects related to a changed presentation of certain transaction processing fees. After the adjustment, Citi guides for revenues of $83.1-84.1 billion for 2025, with costs expected to be just under $53.4 billion.

Expected revenues according to Factset are $83.5 billion.
